Our strategic mineral districts provide exposure to commodities that support electrification, industrial development, technological innovation, and long-term value creation.
SMM's districts provide exposure across three core commodity groups — complemented by emerging strategic optionality in multi-associated metals — aligned with global demand for energy-transition technologies, advanced electronics, distributed infrastructure and enduring stores of value.
Strategic & Rare Metals
- Lithium — a cornerstone of battery and energy-storage supply chains; the primary target of the Oluyole and Latosa LCT pegmatite systems.
- Tantalum — critical for advanced electronics and capacitors; present across the Company's evolved pegmatite districts.
- Niobium — used in high-strength steels and superalloys; associated with the tantalum-bearing pegmatites.
- Beryllium — a strategic metal used in aerospace, defence and specialty alloys; widespread and consistent beryllium anomalism identified across the Oluyole, Latosa and Oriolowo districts.
- Caesium — among the most valuable pegmatite metals; hosted in highly evolved LCT systems, indicated within the Oluyole and Latosa districts.
Precious Metals
- Gold — targeted across Latosa, Oriolowo and Akere-Aleshinloye districts and the broader South-West and Ogun gold systems.
Base & Electrification Metals
- Copper — central to electrification and grid infrastructure; the primary target at Ogunmola, hosted in a chalcopyrite system.
- Zinc — an industrial and galvanising metal occurring within the Ogunmola base-metal system.
- Lead — occurring in association with the Ogunmola copper-zinc mineralisation.
Strategic Optionality
- Platinum-Group Elements (PGE) — emerging optionality, geochemically associated with mafic–ultramafic intrusive signatures within the Latosa district.
- Nickel-Chromium and Copper (Ni-Cr-Cu) — tentative, associated base-metal optionality under evaluation at Latosa, to be tested alongside the PGE thesis as the district advances.
